Vieste is a small town on the eastern part of Gargano. It is a small fishing village
that offers many colourful sights, cultures and tradition to the tourist. BLUE is
the colour of the water which is one of the most memorable aspects of the visit.
The sea is clear and clean, the colour is deep and rich. For many years Vieste has
been the recipient of the highest environmental awards for the cleanest sea water
in Italy. Water is particularly amazing when visiting the sea caves. There are many
of these ones along the southern coast of Vieste. They are both very real and unbelievable.
GREEN is the colour of the nature which is remarkable. The experience of walking
through the "Macchia Mediterranea" into the forest is breathtaking. It is a unique
meeting of special plant, trees and animals. The tourists’ arrival to the "Macchia
Mediterranea" is marked by the distinct perfume of the nature. The name of "Foresta
Umbra" is due to the shadows of the trees. GOLD is the colour of the sand. There
are hundreds of beaches, large and small, quiet and exciting. At the beach tourists
can find many typical activities...
The most popular activities include sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, jet skiing and

Along the coast there are "Trabucchi" small woody building used in the past by fishermen
to fish. RED is the colour of the history of Vieste which was soaked in blood above
all between the 15th and 16th centuries the town was attacked by pirates from all

strategic location for conquerors. In the ancient part of the town there is a rock
called "Chianca Amara" where thousands of viestani were beheaded by the Turkish
leader Dragut Rais. On the highest part of Vieste there is the Castle built by Federico
II of Svevia. When visiting this wonderful town tourist cannot help spending at
least one night on the beach to watch sunset and sunrise. WIND has no colour, but
